I opened my eyes. My friends in the living room were staring at me as tears streamed down my cheeks.

“What happened?”

“Did you see something?”

“What’s wrong?”

I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t figure out what to tell them. I couldn’t explain that I had just met and talked to Jesus Christ. I was still engulfed in the experience.

“I can’t talk about this right now, okay?” was all I could whisper. And I didn’t talk about it until a few days later when I finally told one friend who kept pressing me for an explanation.

“I saw Jesus Christ.”

“You saw Jesus?”

I saw doubt all over his face, so I never talked about it again. But I knew something significant had happened. I just didn’t know what. I didn’t have any frame of reference for the experience, so I simply tucked it away.

About a month after that, I decided to change my life. I sold my house and all my furniture. I packed up a few boxes and moved my little, single-parent family to Los Angeles, California, to chase my dream of being in the entertainment business. There was nothing left for me in Florida, so why not?
